Regular price $150.00We like to mix it up whenever we can with Mystery Boxes, they are always fun to do and we like to incorporate customer feedback into each new version. This year, we have decided to have themed boxes, instead of being a mixture of styles, they will be a selection made up of our 5 popular categories: Tableware, Bowls, Cups, Serving and of course, a Wild Card Box. Expect a blend of styles and colors, but if you order a Curated Bowls Box, you can expect to be able to have some soup out of them!
Bowls: a blend of 5 pieces, coming from our inventory of Dessert Bowls, Breakfast Bowls, Rice Bowls, Mussel Bowls, Pasta Bowls, Dinner Bowls and a sprinkling of various prototypes and one-offs.
Mixed Tableware Bundles (aka Table Settings): Think of these as a sampler or a starter pack. Made of 4-5 pieces, ranging in size from main plates down to bowls. If you want to sample our tableware at a deep discount before you go all in on the set of your dreams, or if you love an eclectic mix of pieces for yourself, this is the perfect set for you!
Serving: 3 pieces to serve up your next dinner party, a mixture of Sharing Bowls, Fruit Bowls, Appetizer Trays, Olive Trays, Oval Platters and more.
The Big Box o’ Tableware: Filled with AT LEAST 9 Plates, this is fun grab bag of our tableware at an incredible price. Much like Mr. Gump’s box of chocolates, this is a huge range of shapes and colors, and you really don’t know what you might get… but we do know, you will not be disappointed. This is a mix of Salad Plates, Side Plates, and Bowls, in a variety of colors and styles
Cups & Mugs: a mix of 4 pieces of our faves- Chemist Cups, Diner Mugs, Short Mugs, Macchiato Mugs, Tapered Mugs, or Juice Cups, in a blend of colors.
Plates: Expect this box to surprise you with a blend of 6 pieces of our our medium sized plates: Salad Plates, Side Plates, and Share Plates. Some boxes might have Dinner Plates, Bread & Butter Plates, or Dessert Plates. Pulled from our popular Skali and Ripple lines, with plenty of restaurant faves mixed in for good measure.
Wild Card: Expect a mix for this set of 3 pieces! Pulling from Kitchen Essentials, prototypes, small accessories, decor, and planters, this is probably the most similar to our old style of mystery boxes, without the "tableware".
Keep your eyes peeled when you open your box, because this year, we really want to emphasize the fun and creativity of what we do here at Haand, so a random selection of 200 Mystery Boxes sold will include a signed, one of a kind miniature drawing by Mark, Haand’s co-founder and Creative Director.
Note: Another change from years past is that we will pull more heavily from our inventory of Firsts, and also our extensive sample stock of pieces we make for restaurants and interior designers. As always, we will be including a wide range of shapes not on our website, or a shape we do retail but in a non-standard color (Robin’s Egg Vases, anyone?!)
Numbers are approximate. Mystery Boxes include Firsts and Seconds. A “second quality” piece (i.e right below first quality) are pieces we produce throughout the year that have a slight aesthetic flaw but are still perfectly functional. They may be slightly different in color or glossier than intended; they might have iron spots or a pourline. All Seconds, like Firsts, are lead free, dishwasher safe, and microwave safe.
All sales of Mystery Boxes are final. No returns or exchanges.
Is your dinnerware dishwasher & microwave safe?
Yes, our plates are designed for the rigors of restaurant kitchens and will be safe in your dishwasher & microwave. For cleaning we recommend using detergents that are gentle and environmentally friendly..
How do I clean cutlery marks off the plates?
Is your dinnerware oven safe?
Yes, our plates are also safe in your oven up to 400°F but they are not bakeware or intended for routine use in the oven. Always be careful to prevent subjecting them to thermal shock (going from extreme cold to extreme hot or visa versa). Thermal shock can break or damage porcelain pottery.
Are your products durable?
Our work is used daily in over 175 restaurants around the world. Fast paced restaurants put our plates through rigors that they’ll never experience in your home. You can use our plates just like you’re accustomed to and when taken care of and stored properly, our wares will last a lifetime (or a few!).
How do Haand plates stack?
Our plates are designed to stack in your cupboard. We do not recommend stacking plates more than 12" high.
A: Our mystery boxes are hand-curated by our team and include a mix of limited edition items (unique colors, tests designs, etc.), excess inventory from past restaurant and/or hotel orders, and a mix of miscellaneous second-quality pieces.
As a small team we currently don’t have the resources to photograph each of these items and set them up on our website, but they’re begging (as much as porcelain can beg) to leave our studio and to arrive in someone’s hands.
Q: Why are we doing this?
A: Sometimes it’s hard to make a decision- especially when everything Haand makes is so cool! We get it. Over the last year or so, the shelves in our studio have gotten a little cluttered. We’ve accumulated quite an array of unique pieces and in hopes of finding loving homes for all of these items, we’re introducing our Mystery Box program.
Our team has curated a limited quantity of “mystery boxes” available in four sizes. If you’re excited by a bit of mystery and believe in the magic of pottery destiny, we can promise you that these boxes offer an incredible value of truly unique Haand pieces at a discount.
Q: When is the next Mystery Box Launch?
A: Our Mystery Boxes sell out quickly, so we know it’s easy to miss out on them. Sign up for our email newsletter to get a heads up on when we launch, and all the other cool stuff our creative studio is working on year-round!
Q: What if I don't like one of the pieces in my Mystery Box?
A: We are very confident that you will love your Mystery Box’s contents, and with so many pieces in the box, we know that there will be something you love. We cannot, unfortunately, accommodate special requests for pieces and colors, but if it’s a total miss, reach out to our customer care team so we can talk and hopefully make you happy!
Q: When will I receive my Mystery Box?
A: It takes slightly longer than usual for us to put Mystery Boxes together, but you can expect to receive your box in 1-2 weeks.
Mystery Box Shipping: We are expecting an extremely high order volume during our Mystery Box sale. We will be working hard to get your order shipped within 1-2 weeks of when you place your order. If you need your order shipped more quickly, we encourage you to reach out to customercare@haand.us and we’ll do our best to accommodate the request.

They may be slightly different in color or glossier than intended- they might also have iron spots or a glaze pourline. We discount these pieces heavily, and they are a great way to start your own Haandmade home.
All Seconds are 100% lead free and meet FDA criteria for tableware. The ingredients are selected following strict guidelines for selecting colorants and glazes with the intention of creating a safe, ethically sourced product that you can proudly and joyfully use, including in the dishwasher and microwave.
