Limited Edition of 15, One-of-a-kind, hand-painted pottery

Blue, hand painted faces on a white Ripple Dinner Plate.

I started doing single-line portraits during meetings when I worked temp jobs right out of college, notably at a bathing suit factory in Jacksonville, Florida. I would stare obliquely at people and try to capture their emotions and character by never picking up my ballpoint pen. Years later, I saw some Greek theater masks- Thalia and Melpomene, aka tragedy and comedy. Designed to convey emotion clearly to everyone in a crowded, noisy amphitheater, even the “lessers” on the edges. Each face is a little different, and I love to think of them dancing across the circular edges of the plate as they go.

Details: Hand-painted, one-of-a-kind decoration in blue glaze under a clear gloss glaze. Microwave and dishwasher safe.
Every plate is signed by Mark, Haand's co-founder, and Creative Director
Dimensions:

  • Ripple Dinner Plates: 11” x 0.5”

Is your dinnerware dishwasher & microwave safe?

Yes, our plates are designed for the rigors of restaurant kitchens and will be safe in your dishwasher & microwave. For cleaning we recommend using detergents that are gentle and environmentally friendly such as Seventh Generation.

How do I clean cutlery marks off the plates?

Any matte glaze can show cutlery marking over time. This is a factor of the glaze being stronger than the flatware. Any marking is only temporary and do not worry, it is not harming the glaze. To remove these marks, we recommend scrubbing with a gentle abrasive cleaner such as Bar Keeper’s friend.

Is your dinnerware oven safe?

Yes, our plates are also safe in your oven up to 400°F but they are not bakeware or intended for routine use in the oven. Always be careful to prevent subjecting them to thermal shock (going from extreme cold to extreme hot or visa versa). Thermal shock can break or damage porcelain pottery.

Are your products durable?

Our work is used daily in over 175 restaurants around the world. Fast paced restaurants put our plates through rigors that they’ll never experience in your home. You can use our plates just like you’re accustomed to and when taken care of and stored properly, our wares will last a lifetime (or a few!).

How do Haand plates stack?

Our plates are designed to stack in your cupboard. We do not recommend stacking plates more than 12" high.

The Haand Painted Collection

One-of-a-kind artworks, Haand painted by Mark Warren, Haand's co-founder and creative director.

Behind the Collection

I started painting on our plates during the early days of the pandemic in 2020. I started painting on plates and serving pieces that were a little wonky for one reason or another. It was a way to kill the time and make the walls feel less like they were closing in during a pretty scary time.
